Unlike our other events, this unique model content day provides each photographer with a dedicated space to build and create their own personalized set, granting full access to our extensive studio inventory and client closet for maximum creative freedom.

The studio will be available in the morning to provide time for you to set up and unload items before the model workshop begins. Things to Know

Spaces Assigned
Each photographer will be provided with a space that is 8 ft x 8 ft within the studio to build their own set for capturing images. The location of each set will be pre-assigned but please be sure to reach out to us if you have any special requests that we should be aware of. If you have a set that will require a more extensive setup, hanging installations, or will require pipe and drape frames, please be sure to reach out to let us know as soon as possible!

Selecting Items From Our Inventory
Our full studio inventory is available for you to use for your sets. Items are on a first come, first serve basis and not all items are stored onsite, so please select items as soon as possible by clicking here.
As a note, if you see any items with a cost listed, please know it will not apply for this event. Our online system will display a cost when reserving but payments are not collected through this system, so please know you can disregard prices displayed.

Bringing In Your Own Items & Morning Setup
You can bring in items of your own. The studio will be available that morning from 9 AM to 11 AM to provide time for you to setup and unload items before the Em(body)ment Workshop begins that morning. We will have staff available to assist. (If you are unavailable on Sunday and need to bring something in early, please don’t hesitate to reach out to let us know!)

Sharing Images
One of the goals of this workshop is to help bridge the gap in providing a better understanding of the value of a model’s hard work and skill in the industry. To ensure an equal balance, photographers attending are required to submit at least 5 images of each model to any of the workshop hosts withing 20 days to ensure distribution of images to models.

June Studio Theme: Amour des Fleurs (Love of Flowers)

This studio content day will feature a total of four installations.

• Cyc Wall. Two small greenery covered arches will be positioned inside the cyclorama wall.

• Movable Arch. Set beside the cyc wall, the movable arch will have a wooden chair in front adorned with florals and fabric.

• Umbrellas & Parasol. We’ll have one umbrella recontructed with pastel live florals and one parasol adorned with live florals in vibrant colors.

• Wooden Doors. Placed at the front of the studio in front of our double wooden doors, this set will feature a gold frame, faux hydrangea garland, white chair and our tan cow hide hexagon pattern rug.

• Breaktrough Seamless Paper. Featuring a seamless paper backing and torn color seamless paper front to allow your models/clients to stand in between, this set will have a large faux floral installation suspended from the ceiling.

• Floral Wall. Set on our movable wall, this set will feature solo stemmed flowers attached directly to the movable wall.

From in-studio to outdoor conditions, understanding the core foundations of lighting and how its impacts your captures is just a small part of what this amazing workshop will uncover. With an expansive career spanning almost four decades, John has dedicated a large portion of his time and investment in teaching, from large instruction classes for PPA to one-on-one instruction. This workshop will focus on providing photographers with a hands-on experience targeted toward learning more about the diverse array of studio lighting setups like mount types, triggers and the use of speedlights, continuous lighting, hybrid units, and monolight flashes. From nuanced gradiants of light and various lighting patterns, discover ways to dramatically elevate your portraiture, transforming visuals from flatness to multi-layered incorporations of depth. Learn how to effectively match lighting modifiers with specific lighting sources and explore the essential concepts involved in low, mid and high key lighting.

Tailored with a portion of demonstration instruction, followed by hands-on learning with models, all lighting equipment, backdrops and modifiers will be provided to ensure you gain the experience needed to feel comfortable with a diverse range of lighting equipment.

What will the studio look like?

Fully set and ready to go, including lighting. Come in, pick up your camera, and start shooting! The studio will have three large fabric installations and, as always, this content day will introduce a new bold + colorful installation.
This studio styled session and content day utilizes over 16 pieces of frabric ranging from 20 to 40 feet in length.

Cyclorama Wall
Draped 20’ x 40’ white fabric. Placed in the center will be a mattress with pillows behind a white plush rug.

Center Area
30’ dusty blue fabric peices spanning the stretch of the center area, ceiling height with white curtains behind surrounding our fireplace adorned with blue and white hydrandras intertwined with a gold candle centerpiece.
Oversized dusty blue fabric piece with movement (this one is stunning for social shares!) will be used from 1 PM to 1:30 PM.

What are Studio Content Days?
Studio content days are similar to styled sessions and are designed to be fun ways for photographers to create unique and engaging content. All setups, lighting, decor, client closets, and backdrops are provided—the only thing you need to bring is a model.

What does the studio look like during content days?

Fully set and ready to go. Come in, pick up your camera, and start shooting! Our studio will have the following setups, and please feel free to use our client closet and props to find the perfect look. These setups are perfect for a wide range of models, including families/kids, fashion models, couples, and branding headshots.

We don’t provide models for studio content days, so please be sure to bring a friend, model, family member, or client with you unless you are solely creating videos/photos demonstrating possible setups.

Can I sell sessions to my clients for studio content days?
You are welcome to sell sessions to your clients for studio content days! Please remember that this is a drop-in whenever you would like, with no time restrictions, and there is a strong possibility for other photographers to be in the space at any time. So, giving your clients an idea of what to expect before they arrive is always a great idea.

A ticket is required for each person (photographer, friend, client, model, etc.) who will attend.
(This helps us ensure that we don’t have too many people in the space simultaneously.)

How Do The Styled Session Timeframes Work?
All you need to bring is your camera and creativity! Just like a typical styled session, our amazing team of vendors will curate the looks, decor, lighting, and overall style for each of the session types listed below. Please know you can give models instructions on set if you're looking for a specific look. Within each set, info cards will be available listing participating vendors, making it easy for you to tag them on social media.
